Backup all markbooks
The Backup all markbooks command creates a zip file with all markbooks owned by the school. The zip file must be downloaded to complete the backup. This command can only be used by a User Administrator.
To only include in the backup markbooks that have a specific piece of text in the markbook name, enter the text in the line. For example, if the school uses a naming convention of putting the current calendar year in the name of each markbook, then putting that year in the line will only backup those markbooks.
Turn on the Included archived markbooks option to include markbooks that are archived and are normally hidden in the File|Open command.
At the next step, optionally turn on the Save the markbooks as CSV files in the backup option, if that is required. This option only stores the results in each backup file and is not normally recommended.
The number of markbooks to backup and an estimate of the time required is shown. Click on the Backup All button to begin the process. After the backup a zip file is created and click on the Download Backup button to download the file. Then click on the Return to menu button.
- A backup made with this command must be downloaded for safe keeping at your site, SM-Marks Online does not keep a copy of the zip file you create.
The zip file contains all the markbooks as individual files with an extension of mk which can be used in the desktop version of the markbook, of be re-imported with the File|Import|Markbook command.
If the backups are CSV files, then each original cannot be re-imported in full because the CSV files only include the results and not the calculations used.
