Create a new markbook?

Creating a markbook from scratch requires adding classes, students, and task to a new markbook. The steps here assume this is done by entering the information by hand. If the data is available in another application or file, importing the information is usually more convenient.

  1. Choose the File|New command
  2. Enter the name of the markbook.
  3. Click the Create Markbook button.
  4. Choose the New|Class command.
  5. Enter the name of the class.
  6. Enter the family name of the teacher.
  7. Enter the given name of the teacher.
  8. Click the Create Class button.
  9. Repeat steps 4 to 8 to make more than one class.
  10. Choose the New|Student command.
  11. Enter the family name.
  12. Enter the given name.
  13. Select the student gender.
  14. Click the Create Student button.
  15. Repeat steps 10 to 14 to make more than one student.
  16. Choose the New|Task command.
  17. Enter the task name.
  18. Enter the task maximum.
  19. Click the Create Task button.
  20. Repeat steps 16 to 19 to make more than one task.

Each markbook in a school must have a unique name. If in step 3 a message indicates that markbook already exists in the database, then a different name must be entered.

When students are added they are always put into the class that is selected on the menu below the toolbar. To add students to a specific class, you must select the class before choosing the New|Student command.
