How do I?
Import a text file created with a database system into SM-Marks Online?
If your database system is capable of exporting a text file that is either comma or tab delimited, the File|Import|Data file command will try to read the file and copy the student names and results, if any, into the markbook.
- Using your database system create a text file that includes the student names, and optionally any results.
- Choose the File|Import|Data file command.
- Click on the Browse (Choose File) button for the File 1 field and select the file to import.
- Click the Import Data button.
- Select the specific data you want to import.
- Click on the button to import the data.
Depending on the data being imported step 3 can be repeated to select up to 2 more files before doing step 3.
In the steps 5 and 6, depending on the data in the text file you may be creating markbooks, or adding information to the open markbook.
If the imported file has the information in a suitable arrangement, SM-Marks Online automatically handles the conversion of the data into a markbook. Browse the Importing section of the Help for more details on the types of files SM-Marks Online can import.
