Introduction
Mobile devices
SM-Marks Online changes and simplifies the screen when you login from a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone that does not have a full size screen. Logging in from a small screen device should automatically detect and adjust the interface, but you can switch between the two styles at any time with the Options|Small screen command.
- From a tablet or smartphone it is recommended that the device be used in the landscape orientation (the screen rotated so the width is the longest length) for the easiest to use use view.
- Tablet computers with a suitably large enough screen can continue to use the full size interface.
- By default the Small screen interface only shows 2 columns for the tasks, but this can be changed with the Options|Set number of tasks command.
In the Small screen interface the top menu is simplified and no longer has drop down lists, instead the entire menu changes with a subset of all the possible command for the menu item. The first item in the menu is always Go Back, which returns to the main menu. In the Small screen menus the command names are shortened to use less space. Abbreviations are used, and the words Student, Task, Class may be referred to as S., T. and C. respectively.
While there is no limitations to the interface on a tablet computer with a large enough screen, when working from a smartphone style of device you cannot expect to have access to the full set SM-Marks Online features. When working with a smartphone sized screen the emphasis is on the convenience of entering and editing results and notes into an existing markbook from any device, without providing the full markbook experience.
