Counting the total number of each grade

The number of grades from A to E given to the students in a course needs to be available as part of the new reporting requirements in some case. The number of each grade allocated may not need to be on each report, but a summary does need to be available if requested. While your reporting system may be able to count the number of grades, Markbook Online can count the number of each grade given to the students as a group.

Continuing with the example above, you can get these totals, by doing this in Markbook Online.

  1. Tag the Overall Report Grade task which has the grades done in the previous set of steps.
  2. Choose the Tools|Count grades command.
  3. If you want to copy the totals into another application by selecting the text in the table and choosing the Edit|Copy command in your browser.

If you need to count the number of grades other than just the letters from A to E you can use the Tools|Count results command.

The Tools|Count results command is also useful for checking if there are any students that have results or entries that are outside of the expected range of values.
