Let teachers know their passwords?

Passwords in SM-Reports Online are stored securely and cannot be viewed or shown on screen. Only the user ever knows his or her own password. This means passwords are handled differently from Old SM-Reports.

There are different approaches to this issue.

• Enter a password for a teacher in the Edit Teachers & Staff command and tell the teacher what it is.

• Ask the teacher to use the Forgot, or don't have a password link on the login page.

• If the list of teachers was imported from Old SM-Reports, the password will be the same as before.

If a teacher not able to use the Forgot, or don't have a password link the Reset User Passwords command can be used to send an email with a temporary password.

• When a teacher or the administrator resets a password a randomly generated password is email to the teacher. This password should be changed by the teacher at the next login to enhance security.
