Lines, Brushes and Fonts

To specify the style and colour of the elements drawn with the /line/, /grid/ and /rectangle/ keywords there is a line and brush setting.

The current brush is set with the /brush/ keyword. Any keywords following the /brush/ keyword that fill an area, use the current brush. To change the current brush the /brush/ keyword is used again.

The brush has a style, colour, and background colour. The style is set by the /brush/ keyword. The colour is set by the preceding /colour/ and /backcolour/ keywords.

The bush style is the pattern used to fill the area. If the brush style is a solid pattern, only the colour is used. For brush styles with a pattern, the pattern is drawn in the colour over the background colour.

To specify the style and colour of the text drawn with the /text/, /title/, /field/, /column/, /single/, and any other keywords that draw text there is a font setting. The current font is set with the /serif/ and /sans/ keywords. Any keywords following either keyword that draw text use the current font. To change the current font the /serif/ or /sans/ keyword is used again.

The font has a style, colour, and background colour. The style is set by the /serif/ or /sans/ keyword. The colour is set by the preceding /textcolour/ and the /backcolour/ keyword.

When drawing text, the frame is filled with the background colour, the text is then drawn with the current font and style. Note, the background colour is only used if the /mode/ is set to opaque, otherwise the background is not filled and the text is drawn on whatever happens to already be within the frame.

The font style is the typeface, size, and attributes used such as normal, bold, or italic. The typeface is either Arial or Times New Roman. The size is the height of the typeface in points. A point is a unit of measurement that has approximately 72 points in an imperial inch.
